Weekly Reading 4th to 10th February 2018

Welcome to a new month and a new Tarot Deck of cards. This week we are exploring the Mythic Tarot Cards. Not my favourite deck of cards of all time, however, they are different, none the less/
Created by Juliet-Sharman-Burke and Liz Greene, this deck was first published in 1992 by Simon & Schuster Australia.  I certainly doubt that I would purchase this deck had I read their accompanying book for the deck. Its introduction raises some goobly-gock over the psychological impact of the Tarot as a whole and does not really identify why they “attempted to restore some of the original simplicity and accessibility of the Tarot cards by redesigning the deck in accord with the images of the Grek gods so beloved by Renaissance artists and writers, and which form the cultural underpinning of Western life.” Then they go into more depth by explaining the “Amoral yet containing profound moral truths, they predate and permeate our modern Judaeo-Christian religious symbols as well as the art and literature of the whole of Western culture; and they remain the most fundamental and precise images to describe the many-sided and multicoloured workings of the human psyche.” Of course, this is only my own opinion. As I have discovered that many creators of Tarot decks do imprint their own values and interpretations onto their images, sometimes these have little to do with Tarot as a whole.

So here is the weekly reading. I will give the authors’ interpretations of each card, while at the same time give my interpretations for the day/month & year of the card. We are continuing to provide the readings as thus: beginning with the date of the Sunday, which this week is the 4th, ending with the 10th. Moving onto the second last card which is for the month – February (2nd) and the year 2018. So I have lightly shuffled the deck as per usual, taken three cards out and laid down the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th cards down for the appropriate dates from Sunday to Saturday. Then taken one card out and laid down the 2nd card for the month of February. Finally, I have counted and taken 17 cards out of the deck and laid down the 18th card of the deck.

Sunday – The Sun: “Here we meet the radiant sun-god Apollo, the gentleman of Olympus and lord of prophecy, music and knowledge. His nickname was Phoebus, which means ‘the brilliant’, and in myth, he delighted in the heights of the mountain peaks.”
“On an inner level, Apollo, the sun-god is an image of the power of the consciousness to dispel the darkness. like Hecate, who under the name of Artemis was Apollo’s twin sister in mythy, the god personifies something greater than one individual’s capacity to. gain knowledge and insight.”

For Sunday, we have The Sun shining on our world. Bringing forth light and clarity for the day. Radiant sunshine shall follow thee all the hours of the day. What better card to represent the Christian Sabbath.

Monday – AceCups: In this card, we meet the goddess who is the initiator and moving power behind the tale of the love of Eros and Psyche. Aphrodite the Foam-Born, goddess of love in its most noble and its most degraded aspects.
In short, Aphrodite is an image is an image of a force of nature. The meaning o the Aces in all four Suits of the Minor Arcana is an initial eruption of raw energy, and the black-haired goddess emerging from the sea bearing her single golden cup represents and an upsurge of raw feeling.”

in short, Monday promises to be a day of opening up in and around the home front, in any and all matters of the heart and home life. It looks like a day of big things coming, first things happening and, in short, love making a statement.

Tuesday – Page of Cups:“Here, in the card of the Page of Cups, we meet the changeable, vulnerable, gentle beginnings of the element of water; the nascent emergence of the capacity to feel. This is embodied in the mythical figure of the beautiful youth Narcissus, who fell in love with his own reflection in the water…
Thus Narcissus, Page of Cups  is an ambiguous figure in one sense, the Page of Cups as an image of the gentle, nascent beginnings of the feeling-life, suggests the birth of something new – a capacity for love or the renewal of faith in love which might previously have been damaged or bruised from an unfortunate relationship.”

For this day, the energy will be soft and willowy. Perhaps a little surreal as you move along throughout your day’s journey you will likely experience happiness and contentment in all their earthly beginnings.

Wednesday – Five Wands: “The five of Wands represents struggle. Here the creative vision has collided with earthly reality in the form of the dragon which in myth has always represented the primitive powers of the earth which resist change. The problem of accommodating limitations of practical life – and the limitations of one’s own regressive inertia – is the greatest challenge to my individual wishing to express the power of his or her creative imagination in actual life.”

Representing fire against a bigger entity than oneself, than one is capable of handing can be a challenge unto itself. This day will be a challenging day to get through, try pacing yourself to ensure a less stressful day. Be persistent to fulfil your promise to make it with a win at the end of the day.

Thursday – Nine Wands: “This is the card of strength in reserve. It portrays the tremendous power of the creative imagination, for just when we feel we can not fight one more fight or confront one more difficulty, somehow in the midst of this stress, the ideas and the energy become available to take on this final challenge before the goal.
But there is something mysterious and quite awesome within us which can rise to the challenge at such times, and when we are faced with the most disturbing and miraculous aspect of what we call the creative spirit in human beings.”

Sometimes when we think it will take way too much energy to go that extra mile, we find it within ourselves to continue the great race and complete our tasks so that the following day we have no mess lying in wait for us to do. Instead, we can get on with the tasks of the new day. Such is this day Thursday. A very ordinary day with a high workload. Get it done and have an easier Friday.

Friday – Page Swords: “Here in the card of the Page of Swords, we meet the nascent, unformed and primitive beginnings of the element of air; the first stirrings of independent mental activity and foundation. This is embodied in the mythic figure of Zephyrus, the youthful ruler of the West Wind.
Because he is young and elemental, the Page of Swords is querulous, and like any child can be prone to cruel gossip, mockery, rudeness and general mischievousness – a kind of playful exercise of the powers of thought and speech before any feeling values or ethical codes intervene to shaped and direct the mental activity.”

Because Friday is the day before the weekend, this abovementioned description seems so appropriate for this day’s reading. Be warned, be on guard for these querulous emotions that will surface during the day. Remember to put your head down and tail up while keeping your mouth shut. Is it really work getting extra stressed today, after yesterday’s details.?

Saturday – Queen Cups: “Here in the card of the Queen of Cups, we meet the stable, containing introverted depths f the element of water – the private inner world of feeling which is bottomless and ultimately unfathomable. This is embodied in the mythic figure of Hellen…whose beauty was so great that the Trojan War began because of her.
Helen, the Queen of Cups is more than an image of alluring feminine beauty. She embodies the hypnotic power of the feminine world of the feelings, a power which is magical and magnetic and defies a mere physical perfection. ”

Saturday’s child works hard for a living is the line for the nursery rhyme of ‘Monday’s Child’. For today, it would seem that work can be a tad easier going with a beauty all of its own. Alluring and gentle, while at the same time being full of empowerment. Make the most of today for tomorrow is another day.

February – Page Wands: “Here in the card of the Page of Wands, we meet the element of fire in its most delicate and fragile beginnings – the first stirrings of creative inspiration which usually manifest as a kin of restlessness and unease with existing conditions. The embodiment of the mythic figure of Phrixus… (from) the story of Jason and the Golden Fleece. Phrixus really begins this tale….for it is he who takes the Fleece out of danger and overland and sea to the distant kingdom of Colchis.
Phrixus, the Page of Wands, is an image of that fragile beginning of the creative imagination which is often at odds with more realistic people and the demands and responsibilities of the mundane world.”

For this week’s reading, the month of February will seem to be hard and tough getting through it. While life is not always hard, you may like to see your life as being that of The Golden Fleece. How precious it is and how some do fight over its ownership. Make a stand to keep it yours. Be careful not to align yourself with others who may be goal seekers or tyrants. Want to have and to hold your own life in the palm of your own hand  – forever.

2018 – Seven Swords (Reversed): “The Seven of Swords represents the application of mental energy in a cautious, wily and diplomatic way in order to gain the end desired. Here the message is brains rather than brawn, and life may require the individual to develop guile and wit and cunning. The feeling of the Seven of Swords is ambivalent, for we cannot be sure of the rightness or moral integrity of the goal; and certainly, for Orestes, his motive for creeping back into Argos by stealth is a violent one.

In connection with the month of February and this weekly reading, it would seem that 2018 will be one of many surprises, both up and down. A year that will certainly keep us on our toes and disallow us to rest on our laurels. It will remain to be seen how the rest of February pans out, however, for now, it is one that will be far from boring.

So with this longer than usual weekly reading, I hope that you can see the difference between the two different Tarot Cards.

Bright Blessings

Weekly Reading 29th January 2018

Welcome to the last weekend for January 2018. This week’s reading, of course, overlaps the first week of February as well as seeing the last of the Rider-Waite Tarot Deck for a few months. Apologies for this week also, we had a very busy Sunday in the shop at #GalleriaEttalongBeach from the onset and I didn’t get a chance to get it done. So we will be missing out on Sunday for this week, though finishing up on Sunday next week, which of course, will be in February.

So without further adieu, here is the reading.

  1. II PENTACLES – We begin Monday with a rolling balance. It has certainly been that way for me so far. Balance can be up and down, down and up. It can be perfect in its own alignment to the harmony of the energies of the day. That is what it is – abundance in harmony, balance in abundance.
  2. VIII CUPS – Tuesday’s card looks a tad on the ominous side. However, the 8 of cups brings us to a point that it can be too much abundance to be believed. Too much stress and worry on the home front is not a good thing. It is, again like the abovementioned card, harmony out of proportion.
  3. KING WANDS – Wednesday’s card is full of hope. Stability in the highest. Work is great and comes with its own rewards. Not hard, it will make the day travel along the path easily. A great day for the last day of the month.
  4. THE LOVERS – Thursday’s card is a terrific one for the first day of the second month. A day promising compatibilities with work, home and studies. A great day for the kids to be going back to school today. Love could even be in the air as a cooler day is promised for that day.
  5. THE EMPEROR – Friday’s card is full of strength, stability and promises to be a great day for those who have persevered over the holiday period. A great day for promotions, moving up the career ladder of success. A watchful eye by the boss will show most mishaps can be picked up upon.
  6. KNIGHT WANDS – Saturday’s card sees the knight in shining armour returning with a message from the enemy. He’s telling you to be warned, to be careful of what might happen soon. We would do well to heed this worthy advice and travel slowly on the path of life.
  7. V CUPS – Sunday is more sombre for a bright sunshiny day. Still, being warned is armed and seeing the emotions of the day are feeling down, how can we hope not to go further on.
  8. V PENTACLES – For the end of the month swap over to a new month we are looking at a halfway mark that will see us neither struggling financially nor winning goals. A very ordinary day on the abundance stakes.
  9. III SWORDS – For the year of 2018 in relation to the rest of the week will see this as a stab in the heart for our passion, our love of life and possibly heartache for a lasting memory. Not a good card to be ending this week’s reading, so be careful out there and go steady as you go.

Wow, this week’s card reading is all too sombre for me, I’m afraid. I am so looking forward to the end of the week, and it has barely begun. How did you fare during the month of January while visiting with the Rider-Waite Tarot Deck?

I always have felt it is a deck that says it all in black and white. It minces no words in getting to the point of the matter. Although the colours are present, I see it see the full outright point setting in its interpretations and its pertinence. It is nowhere near my favourite deck, though will always reward me with the truth.

Next week will be a surprise deck as we travel to the distant and even ancient place in the Mediterranean to revisit a deck I avoided owning for many a year. Keep watching our weekly channels for your next tarot reading.

Weekly Reading 21st to 28th January

Another reading for the third week in January. How did last week’s reading affect you? did you read it before the week began? Or did you read it during the week? Did it work for you, or not? Comment below to tell us how your week went.Or come and join us at our Facebook Group and share your experiences with us all. This one shows a mixture of cards, minor and major arcana alike. All we can do is live day by day and then see how the week pans out.

  1. VI SWORDS-Sunday 21st January. Well, I don’t know about you, but I do not someone has thrown a spanner in my works for this day. The card itself looks ominous, doesn’t it? Yes, this card tells it all. Off to a start with a difference. Not necessarily bad, but knowing there is something going on for today that is not quite right.
  2. ACE WANDS-Monday 22nd January. As it stands, the ace alone is a good sign for stability. Standing fast and standing on principle. Standing for belief and not allowing yourself to falter. It will be one of those days when what you believe in will be challenged. Can you get over it? Monday being a traditional work day will through open its challenges enough without adding this leading card. Be warned.
  3. VIII WANDS-Tuesday 23rd January. Well, don’t say you you haven’t been warned. Another busy day at the office. Where ever your work is, there will be hard labour. That being said, one man’s had labour (or woman’s for that matter) can be another’s love. So don’t knock it until it is done.
  4. IX SWORDS-Wednesday 24th January. The hurt and anxious emotion only digs in a deeper halfway through the week. There seems little relief in sight but wait for the weekend when the emotions will improve. In the meantime, they are growing. As the saying says, it has to get worse before it gets better. Good luck and try to find a quiet place to meditate and breathe.
  5. V SWORDS-Thursday 25th January. This card brings some relief as you find yourself standing, looking, ever watchful of your enemy (your angst of course) returning to make you feel worse. Know that the worse is over and you are surmounting difficulties along the way.
  6. KING WANDS-Friday 26th January. (For Australians, this is Australia Day). While the suite wands is traditional for work, it also stands for stability. The King sits on his throne ever watchful for trouble looming. It looks as though it has been diverted though, so we are in for an easier end of the week. (did I mention it is Australia Day today? That means a Holiday for us Down Under)
  7. II WANDS-Saturday 27th January. Finally, we see balance being restored to our daily lives. What a blessing this is for the last day of the week, otherwise known as The Sabbath. Enjoy the day for what it is and take each day as it comes.
  8. THE CHARIOT- Month of January. The connection of this card to the rest of the reading is driving us in our mode of transport. What is it that is taking us on our journey this week? It is The Chariot. It begins by delivering the suite of Swords to us, showing the two edge of all of them, therefore showing us what we are made of. How did you make it through the month thus far? How about the week? Comment on what happened during this week – good and bad.
  9. ACE SWORDS-Year of 2018. I made up my mind that this is going to be the year I complete my tasks, my WIP. I have made a start, though am uncertain of completion. Still, the month is not over yet, nor is the year. I wonder, perhaps like you, if it will be full of the interruptions I have experienced thus far.
We will be in need of slow methodical ways (or transport as in the preceding card). Instead of going like a Bull in a China Shop, we need to slow down and take each day as it comes. Slow and steady wins the race after all. Perhaps it is time to become the tortoise, not the hare.

I hope you are enjoying my weekly readings. Please let me know what you think by commenting on these posts week by week – either at the beginning or end. You can also see them in our Facebook Group

Weekly Reading 6th-12th January 2018

Today’s reading comes with a difference. We are, from henceforth, delivering to you a weekly reading instead of a daily reading. We feel this will give you more balance during the week to understand how the whole week will unfold. If you would still like to see a daily reading, please comment below. Otherwise, we will continue with a weekly one every Saturday.

Here’s How it Works

We have seven cards – one for each day of the week. Then another two cards – one for the month, and another for the year. So, all in all, there will be nine cards altogether laid out. Unless of course, there are any other cards that which jump out and want to have their say.

The cards.

  1. VI PENTACLES
We begin with Saturday’s card and it shows a bright start for the beginning of the week. Six Pentacles is not to be sneezed at when one is hoping for a good outcome. Abundance is coming today with a little to spare to give out to others or be a little charitable at the end of the day.
  2. JUDGEMENT
As we venture to the last day of the weekend, Sunday’s card brings a warning to be on guard for the rest of the week. As the trumpet blows its warning signal, remember that to be forewarned is forearmed. Do not take anything for granted, yet at the same time, do not be ultra-cautious.
  3. VIII SWORDS
For Monday’s card, we have an inkling as to the warning’s meaning. It is suggestive of a connection to work as the first day of the working week. Tied up with angst does not help begin the week on a good note. So learn to relax more to let some of those pent-up emotions out.
  4. IX CUPS
A good card to show up for Tuesday’s card. At least the home front looks good for the moment. Something to look forward to after coming home from a hard day at the office means the emotions of the day can be relaxed for a sounder night’s rest.
  5. KING CUPS
Wednesday’s card shows us we can be in control of all issues at home. Not only that, we actually feel as though we are the ones in control and making sure the situation remains stable. What can possibly go wrong today?
  6. THE HERMIT
Showing up for Thursday’s card means a day spent in solitude. Well, there are worse ways to spend the day, so let’s just get on with life and make the most of it. Silence is Golden, so they say. It can make the day go quicker without the distractions.
  7. V PENTACLES
Friday’s card could end worse than half way down the track. Think of it as being half full rather than half empty. We have left our mark in the workforce this week and it doesn’t end on a sour note. Go home, relax and get some well-earned rest. Next week is another week.
  8. IX PENTACLES
For the month of January. When you look at the previous seven cards, then relate them to January, this week’s reading is setting the tone for the rest of the month. Hard work can earn the abundance that is deserved. Don’t be afraid to take the individual stand to stand out from the crowd. It could pay dividends.
  9. IV WANDS
Then in relation to the year, this week’s reading shows us that this year shows promise of being a stable one. The highs and lows being very short and shallow so they are more like troughs and curves.

Overall, a most uneventful week ahead.

Have a good one
