Meditation – The Art of a Quiet Mind

wax art 8

Meditation is not difficult. It is not hard work. You do not need to sit cross legged on the floor, or under the full moon and chant anything.

Meditation is about quieting your mind, relaxing it and learning to bring a smile to your face. Taking you from a negative place where you may be right now – to a happier place that brings peace and tranquillity to your mind, body and soul.

That being said, here is an example of a very simple meditation that you may feel beneficial.

We can teach you different methods of meditation that will help you to find that happy and peaceful tranquillity that you need to quiet your mind. It is very easy and once you have mastered these techniques, you will be able to work on your own at a moment’s notice anywhere, any time.

Our meditation workshops are over 5 weeks and are one session each week. At the end of the five week workshop you will be given a manual as a record of your five weeks, and personal quartz crystal for you to keep. Come and Hear Them Sing

Crystal singing bowls are made from 99.992% pure crushed quartz and heated to about 4000 degrees in a centrifugal mold.

They are available in clear or frosted bowls in a variety of sizes. The bowls emit a powerful and pure resonance. The larger bowls are much more reverberant, with the tone lingering longer, simply because of the size and amount of crystal. The sound emitted from Crystal Singing Bowls is known to have healing effects.

Some crystal singing bowls even harmonize with other bowls, and when played simultaneously, the effect is exquisite and synergistic.

Important

Don’t forget to use the bowl to cleanse your crystals as well (Don’t forget to immerse your crystals in spring or rain water to prevent the vibration of the crystals harming your bowl or the crystals

How they Work?

When you run a wet finger around the rim of a wine glass or goblet, it makes a singing sound, which varies depending on the size and thickness of the glass. The rotating pressure from your finger causes the glass to vibrate, and produce a sound.

Crystal singing bowls also work on the same principle. With the bowls, you use a mallet, (this is a length of hard wood with a neutral rubber cover instead of your finger. You circle this mallet around the outside rim of the bowl, and an enchanting sound is emitted from it. The sound goes on even long after you have stopped circling the bowl.

For sound to be produced, some sort of movement needs to be generated. In a Guitar or a drum you can see the movements. In crystal singing bowls the sides of the bowl actually move when it is being played, and can be felt if we touch them.

Tibetan Singing Bowls

Hand Beaten Tibetan Singing Bowls have a beautiful ring to them when the rubbing stick is rubbed around the lip-edge of the bowl. However did you know that they have an improved “healing” effect when they are gently struck in a “North-South-East-West” direction at the lip edge directly?

It is the vibration of these bowls that when struck gives the most beneficial effect to one’s auric body. Even when one is not very close to the vibration, it tends to have a ripple effect which vibrates throughout the room when a bowl is struck.

Each bowl, reacts differently to each person, and vice versa. It is important to try each bowl out for the individual before purchasing in order to get the feel of the bowl. Although it is not essential that this be done, as a keen ear and a “sensitive” can most certainly hear the desired subtle qualities even over the phone.

According to Tibetan oral tradition, the existence of singing bowls dates back to the time of the historical Buddha Shakyamuni (560 – 480 B.C.). The tradition was brought from India to Tibet, along with the teachings of the Buddha, by the great tantric master Padmasambhava in the 8th century A.D.

Singing bowls produce sounds, which invoke a deep state of relaxation which naturally assists one in entering into meditation, the ultimate goal being enlightenment. They are a quintessential aid to meditation, and can be found on private Buddhist altars, and in temples, monasteries and meditation halls throughout the world.

A metallurgical analysis, done by the British Museum in London, reveals that the instruments are made of a 12-metal alloy consisting of silver, nickel, copper, zinc, antimony, tin, lead, cobalt, bismuth, arsenic, cadmium and iron. Now a lost art, it appears that this quality of bowl cannot be reproduced today.

In addition to their traditional usage for meditation, Tibetan singing bowls are used for deep relaxation, stress reduction, holistic healing, Reiki, chakra balancing, and World music. Many people find that the rich blend of harmonic overtones which the bells produce have a direct affect upon their chakras.

Playing the bowls usually causes an immediate centering effect. The tones set up a”frequency following response” that creates balancing left/right brain synchronization. Meditating on the subtle sounds of the Tibetan singing bowl tunes one in to the universal sound within and without.

Previously used in Tibet for meditation and ceremonial purposes, Tibetan Singing Bowls ares truck with a padded mallet or rubbed around the rim with a playing mallet to produce a fascinating blend of harmonic resonance’s and rich overtones.

Tibetan singing bowls or Himalayan “singing bowls” are dynamically resonant producing soothing overtones…called singing bowls because when rubbed in a circular movement along the outside lip with a striker, a clear and beautiful sound is released. The sound is definitely soothing. The sound frequency is definitely richer when the cushion is used with the bowls Imagine using the singing bowl to free up the tensions of stressed children or for us busy adults. Each bowl is cast from a secret formula of metal alloys, and then hammered into shape. As such exact dimensions and shape will vary somewhat from bowl to bowl.
