Weekly Reading 4th to 10th February 2018

Welcome to a new month and a new Tarot Deck of cards. This week we are exploring the Mythic Tarot Cards. Not my favourite deck of cards of all time, however, they are different, none the less/
Created by Juliet-Sharman-Burke and Liz Greene, this deck was first published in 1992 by Simon & Schuster Australia.  I certainly doubt that I would purchase this deck had I read their accompanying book for the deck. Its introduction raises some goobly-gock over the psychological impact of the Tarot as a whole and does not really identify why they “attempted to restore some of the original simplicity and accessibility of the Tarot cards by redesigning the deck in accord with the images of the Grek gods so beloved by Renaissance artists and writers, and which form the cultural underpinning of Western life.” Then they go into more depth by explaining the “Amoral yet containing profound moral truths, they predate and permeate our modern Judaeo-Christian religious symbols as well as the art and literature of the whole of Western culture; and they remain the most fundamental and precise images to describe the many-sided and multicoloured workings of the human psyche.” Of course, this is only my own opinion. As I have discovered that many creators of Tarot decks do imprint their own values and interpretations onto their images, sometimes these have little to do with Tarot as a whole.

So here is the weekly reading. I will give the authors’ interpretations of each card, while at the same time give my interpretations for the day/month & year of the card. We are continuing to provide the readings as thus: beginning with the date of the Sunday, which this week is the 4th, ending with the 10th. Moving onto the second last card which is for the month – February (2nd) and the year 2018. So I have lightly shuffled the deck as per usual, taken three cards out and laid down the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th cards down for the appropriate dates from Sunday to Saturday. Then taken one card out and laid down the 2nd card for the month of February. Finally, I have counted and taken 17 cards out of the deck and laid down the 18th card of the deck.

Sunday – The Sun: “Here we meet the radiant sun-god Apollo, the gentleman of Olympus and lord of prophecy, music and knowledge. His nickname was Phoebus, which means ‘the brilliant’, and in myth, he delighted in the heights of the mountain peaks.”
“On an inner level, Apollo, the sun-god is an image of the power of the consciousness to dispel the darkness. like Hecate, who under the name of Artemis was Apollo’s twin sister in mythy, the god personifies something greater than one individual’s capacity to. gain knowledge and insight.”

For Sunday, we have The Sun shining on our world. Bringing forth light and clarity for the day. Radiant sunshine shall follow thee all the hours of the day. What better card to represent the Christian Sabbath.

Monday – AceCups: In this card, we meet the goddess who is the initiator and moving power behind the tale of the love of Eros and Psyche. Aphrodite the Foam-Born, goddess of love in its most noble and its most degraded aspects.
In short, Aphrodite is an image is an image of a force of nature. The meaning o the Aces in all four Suits of the Minor Arcana is an initial eruption of raw energy, and the black-haired goddess emerging from the sea bearing her single golden cup represents and an upsurge of raw feeling.”

in short, Monday promises to be a day of opening up in and around the home front, in any and all matters of the heart and home life. It looks like a day of big things coming, first things happening and, in short, love making a statement.

Tuesday – Page of Cups:“Here, in the card of the Page of Cups, we meet the changeable, vulnerable, gentle beginnings of the element of water; the nascent emergence of the capacity to feel. This is embodied in the mythical figure of the beautiful youth Narcissus, who fell in love with his own reflection in the water…
Thus Narcissus, Page of Cups  is an ambiguous figure in one sense, the Page of Cups as an image of the gentle, nascent beginnings of the feeling-life, suggests the birth of something new – a capacity for love or the renewal of faith in love which might previously have been damaged or bruised from an unfortunate relationship.”

For this day, the energy will be soft and willowy. Perhaps a little surreal as you move along throughout your day’s journey you will likely experience happiness and contentment in all their earthly beginnings.

Wednesday – Five Wands: “The five of Wands represents struggle. Here the creative vision has collided with earthly reality in the form of the dragon which in myth has always represented the primitive powers of the earth which resist change. The problem of accommodating limitations of practical life – and the limitations of one’s own regressive inertia – is the greatest challenge to my individual wishing to express the power of his or her creative imagination in actual life.”

Representing fire against a bigger entity than oneself, than one is capable of handing can be a challenge unto itself. This day will be a challenging day to get through, try pacing yourself to ensure a less stressful day. Be persistent to fulfil your promise to make it with a win at the end of the day.

Thursday – Nine Wands: “This is the card of strength in reserve. It portrays the tremendous power of the creative imagination, for just when we feel we can not fight one more fight or confront one more difficulty, somehow in the midst of this stress, the ideas and the energy become available to take on this final challenge before the goal.
But there is something mysterious and quite awesome within us which can rise to the challenge at such times, and when we are faced with the most disturbing and miraculous aspect of what we call the creative spirit in human beings.”

Sometimes when we think it will take way too much energy to go that extra mile, we find it within ourselves to continue the great race and complete our tasks so that the following day we have no mess lying in wait for us to do. Instead, we can get on with the tasks of the new day. Such is this day Thursday. A very ordinary day with a high workload. Get it done and have an easier Friday.

Friday – Page Swords: “Here in the card of the Page of Swords, we meet the nascent, unformed and primitive beginnings of the element of air; the first stirrings of independent mental activity and foundation. This is embodied in the mythic figure of Zephyrus, the youthful ruler of the West Wind.
Because he is young and elemental, the Page of Swords is querulous, and like any child can be prone to cruel gossip, mockery, rudeness and general mischievousness – a kind of playful exercise of the powers of thought and speech before any feeling values or ethical codes intervene to shaped and direct the mental activity.”

Because Friday is the day before the weekend, this abovementioned description seems so appropriate for this day’s reading. Be warned, be on guard for these querulous emotions that will surface during the day. Remember to put your head down and tail up while keeping your mouth shut. Is it really work getting extra stressed today, after yesterday’s details.?

Saturday – Queen Cups: “Here in the card of the Queen of Cups, we meet the stable, containing introverted depths f the element of water – the private inner world of feeling which is bottomless and ultimately unfathomable. This is embodied in the mythic figure of Hellen…whose beauty was so great that the Trojan War began because of her.
Helen, the Queen of Cups is more than an image of alluring feminine beauty. She embodies the hypnotic power of the feminine world of the feelings, a power which is magical and magnetic and defies a mere physical perfection. ”

Saturday’s child works hard for a living is the line for the nursery rhyme of ‘Monday’s Child’. For today, it would seem that work can be a tad easier going with a beauty all of its own. Alluring and gentle, while at the same time being full of empowerment. Make the most of today for tomorrow is another day.

February – Page Wands: “Here in the card of the Page of Wands, we meet the element of fire in its most delicate and fragile beginnings – the first stirrings of creative inspiration which usually manifest as a kin of restlessness and unease with existing conditions. The embodiment of the mythic figure of Phrixus… (from) the story of Jason and the Golden Fleece. Phrixus really begins this tale….for it is he who takes the Fleece out of danger and overland and sea to the distant kingdom of Colchis.
Phrixus, the Page of Wands, is an image of that fragile beginning of the creative imagination which is often at odds with more realistic people and the demands and responsibilities of the mundane world.”

For this week’s reading, the month of February will seem to be hard and tough getting through it. While life is not always hard, you may like to see your life as being that of The Golden Fleece. How precious it is and how some do fight over its ownership. Make a stand to keep it yours. Be careful not to align yourself with others who may be goal seekers or tyrants. Want to have and to hold your own life in the palm of your own hand  – forever.

2018 – Seven Swords (Reversed): “The Seven of Swords represents the application of mental energy in a cautious, wily and diplomatic way in order to gain the end desired. Here the message is brains rather than brawn, and life may require the individual to develop guile and wit and cunning. The feeling of the Seven of Swords is ambivalent, for we cannot be sure of the rightness or moral integrity of the goal; and certainly, for Orestes, his motive for creeping back into Argos by stealth is a violent one.

In connection with the month of February and this weekly reading, it would seem that 2018 will be one of many surprises, both up and down. A year that will certainly keep us on our toes and disallow us to rest on our laurels. It will remain to be seen how the rest of February pans out, however, for now, it is one that will be far from boring.

So with this longer than usual weekly reading, I hope that you can see the difference between the two different Tarot Cards.

Bright Blessings

Weekly Reading 29th January 2018

Welcome to the last weekend for January 2018. This week’s reading, of course, overlaps the first week of February as well as seeing the last of the Rider-Waite Tarot Deck for a few months. Apologies for this week also, we had a very busy Sunday in the shop at #GalleriaEttalongBeach from the onset and I didn’t get a chance to get it done. So we will be missing out on Sunday for this week, though finishing up on Sunday next week, which of course, will be in February.

So without further adieu, here is the reading.

  1. II PENTACLES – We begin Monday with a rolling balance. It has certainly been that way for me so far. Balance can be up and down, down and up. It can be perfect in its own alignment to the harmony of the energies of the day. That is what it is – abundance in harmony, balance in abundance.
  2. VIII CUPS – Tuesday’s card looks a tad on the ominous side. However, the 8 of cups brings us to a point that it can be too much abundance to be believed. Too much stress and worry on the home front is not a good thing. It is, again like the abovementioned card, harmony out of proportion.
  3. KING WANDS – Wednesday’s card is full of hope. Stability in the highest. Work is great and comes with its own rewards. Not hard, it will make the day travel along the path easily. A great day for the last day of the month.
  4. THE LOVERS – Thursday’s card is a terrific one for the first day of the second month. A day promising compatibilities with work, home and studies. A great day for the kids to be going back to school today. Love could even be in the air as a cooler day is promised for that day.
  5. THE EMPEROR – Friday’s card is full of strength, stability and promises to be a great day for those who have persevered over the holiday period. A great day for promotions, moving up the career ladder of success. A watchful eye by the boss will show most mishaps can be picked up upon.
  6. KNIGHT WANDS – Saturday’s card sees the knight in shining armour returning with a message from the enemy. He’s telling you to be warned, to be careful of what might happen soon. We would do well to heed this worthy advice and travel slowly on the path of life.
  7. V CUPS – Sunday is more sombre for a bright sunshiny day. Still, being warned is armed and seeing the emotions of the day are feeling down, how can we hope not to go further on.
  8. V PENTACLES – For the end of the month swap over to a new month we are looking at a halfway mark that will see us neither struggling financially nor winning goals. A very ordinary day on the abundance stakes.
  9. III SWORDS – For the year of 2018 in relation to the rest of the week will see this as a stab in the heart for our passion, our love of life and possibly heartache for a lasting memory. Not a good card to be ending this week’s reading, so be careful out there and go steady as you go.

Wow, this week’s card reading is all too sombre for me, I’m afraid. I am so looking forward to the end of the week, and it has barely begun. How did you fare during the month of January while visiting with the Rider-Waite Tarot Deck?

I always have felt it is a deck that says it all in black and white. It minces no words in getting to the point of the matter. Although the colours are present, I see it see the full outright point setting in its interpretations and its pertinence. It is nowhere near my favourite deck, though will always reward me with the truth.

Next week will be a surprise deck as we travel to the distant and even ancient place in the Mediterranean to revisit a deck I avoided owning for many a year. Keep watching our weekly channels for your next tarot reading.

Weekly Reading 13th – 20th January 2018

Welcome to another card reading for the month of January 2018. This week’s reading has an extra card which will take us up to and be including next Saturday. This was a small oversight on my part, though my Spirit Guides assured me this is the right way to go for this week.

As you will see the first four cards are Major Arcana cards. This is showing the powerful energy which will come through to us all across the board. I have noticed this trend reflected in readings with my clients, so I don’t feel it is unusual. So here we begin…

  1. XVIII-THE MOON representing self-reflection. On this day, like any other, we sometimes need to reflect on ourselves to understand where we are heading. In this case, for the week. This first card sets the tone for the week.
  2. VIII-STRENGTH representing the obvious. Strength is required on Sunday, after the self-reflecting to provide us with the energy we will need to further our journey into the unknown.
  3.  XI-JUSTICE sitting on the right side of The Moon. Where else would it be, after all, it goes hand in hand with Strength. Does it not? What ws your self-reflection about on Saturday? Did you venture too soft, or too tough on yourself? Are you a harsh critique, or a soft one. Today is Monday and the answers you need will be in connection with your day on Saturday.
  4. 0-THE FOOL represents you and your continuing journey for the week. It is still early days, being Tuesday. But what are you doing today to further it? You may be full of innocence, even naïvety. However be aware that another day follows this one, then another and another. You will need to be responsible for your actions. So take it one step at a time.
  5. PAGE  SWORDS is ever-present warning you of bad omens for the day. Wednesday is a day to check your diary and if you don’t need to be out and about early in the morning, leave a little later if you can. Otherwise, proceed with caution.
  6. IV- PENTACLES  represents an end to a hard day. Being the second last day of the working week. For some, it is payday, for others the day before payday. Just a regular day at the office. Nothing exciting happening.
  7. IX-PENTACLES represents a bigger surprise for Friday. A small windfall in extra abundance coming your way. This does not necessarily take on the guise of money, so don’t be lulled into false impressions. Rather enjoy the day for what it is. It could be a shortened work day or a special bonus. Remember not to look a gift horse in the mouth.
  8. III-THE EMPRESS represents the traditional end of the week or Sabbath. A good day to relax and enjoy after a good week of work and toil. Although it has been tough, it comes with it some unexpected abundance. I good time to kick your shoes off and put your feet up.
  9. III WANDS represents the month of January in respect for this reading. Wands being a traditional card for work and stability. In this reading, it is no exception. Showing there will be steady work that will not b difficult to complete or process. A slow month – a gift horse for certain.
  10. XIV-TEMPERANCE represents the year of 2018. A year for being even-tempered, firm but not hard not soft. Yet in between.  An ordinary year ahead? No. A remarkable one for its non-ordinariness.

Even with this extra card, brining next week’s reading into line with the first day of the traditional week being Sunday, it is an uneventful reading. Not without its surprises though. Have a great week and remember to look for the signs.

Daily Reading 4th January 2018

Today, one extra card jumped out.

  1. VI SWORDS asks is vengeance on your mind today? Have you not recovered yesterday’s angst? Be warned today’s leftover emotions as you travel the road to work today.
  2. THE FOOL is once again giving you a relaxed day. At work, play, home or office – take it for what it is. Enjoy your surroundings for the sun is shining in your part of the word.
  3. STRENGTH has returned to keep you in good standing to make sure there is inner as well as outer strength.  Take it all in your stride and don’t give in to deflated feelings.
  4. REVERSED X PENTACLES gives abundance falling flat today. You will e left standing, wondering what has happened to cause all of this. Keep the strength of the month and wait until tomorrow, for it is yet another day.

Overall, it is an up and down day today. Try to go with the flow, emotions will be at the medium level as you carry out the errands that are necessary, whether at work or home.

Daily Reading 3rd January 2018

Two Cards Jumped out

While shuffling for today’s reading, two extra cards jumped out. This sometimes happens when Spirit has something important to instil into us all.

  1. VI WANDS is the journey on the way to work today (whatever work you  are doing). Take it easy, relax to enjoy the journey for what it is.
  2. HIGH PRIESTESS is in your energy circle, telling you a new role of power is opening up for you. It is time to take stock and responsibility of this power, Much to think about for the short-term future.
  3. THE FOOL foes blithely through life with a carefree attitude. Enjoy the sun, enjoy the day. This is an exception and not the rule. So make the most of the smoother energies of the day.
  4. STRENGTH tells us to take the opportunity to accept the power you have from within. Get back in touch with it for today and allow it to fill your soul. It looks as though you may need it.
  5. DEATH card tells us the end is near. Don’t misunderstand this card for its literal meaning. This may pertain to a vehicle/job/ project of some type. The movement has stopped and now is the time to finish what you have started. The power comes before the end.

Overview of Reading

For today we are heavy with the major arcana and the words telling us what we have, and not what to do. Take stock of the fact our needs are taken care of while we reflect and complete the projects of the day. Knowing that the end of the day may end abruptly. Forewarned is always forearmed, so be ready for the end of the day.

Bright Blessings

Daily Reading 2nd January 2018

Today’s reading comes with a standard three card draw.

  1. Knight Swords for today is the card for charging at your anger. For pursuing focused energy and determination to right the wrongs from others to you.
  2. King Pentacles tells you that although you have won our hard-earned wealth and happiness, it seems it is not as you thought it would be.
  3. X Pentacles tells you to lighten your load so that it feels just right to really enjoy your abundance for what it truly is.

Overall, you will be better off if you let your anger out by venting, then reflect on your hard-earned abundance with gratitude.

Daily Tarot Reading 1st January 2018

Welcome to Sandy’s Daily Readings. Each month I will change the deck of cards to a new deck. I will give you a daily reading each week. The first deck of cards I will be using is The Rider Waite Deck.

Method

My method of choosing the cards is that first I shuffle while focusing on the day in question. Eg, shuffling and focusing on the 1st January 2018. Once done, I will then count the days of the month out. For today I have counted the first card for the 1st January, this is then laid down face up. Then I will count for the month number. For this month, I have counted the next card (as in the first card) for the 1st month of the year. This is then laid out face up. Then finally I will count the cards for the number of years this century. This year is 18. I will lay the 18th card face up in the three card spread.

So, without further delay, here are the cards for

Today’s Reading

  1. IX Swords. Severe anxiety today appears to upset the equilibrium of the energies for the first day of the new year. Well, it is a 9 year after all. Let’s hope this doesn’t set the tone for the rest of the year.
  2. Ace of Cups is now getting away from the downside and showing strength from within. Cups represent the family life and love. Strong emotions for the second card, lending support for the home life. Keep your family issues close to you.
  3. IV Wands always gives me a good feeling of strength and stability. A kind of balance is showing for the day. Work is neither too hard, nor too easy. Yet just right.

Overall, as the day begins with anxiety, emotions for the home life come through for the month. Work and stability will rule the year with more balance.

Ace – High or Low

Have you ever watched the flag bearers at the Olympic Games? Look at the individual carrying the flag. He or She is filled with a sense of pride and responsibility as the march continues on its way. They wend their way around the games, leading their home teams. He or she is at the front of the team. Saying “make way, this is us from…” what ever country they are all from.

The Ace may represent One, or represent the whole of the suit. Either way, it is at the front, leading the team of that suit on, around the games to participate in the game of life. The game of telling the future. The Ace is at the front, in full regalia of that suit. Look at the Ace of which ever suit you pick up. It is larger than all of the other minor arcana cards. It is saying “I am One of this suit”

The Ace is therefore of high importance in a tarot spread. It carries a great deal of weight, whether it is One, or the card above the King. In some ways, it is a wild card, as it reaches out and packs a proverbial punch in the tarot reading.

If there are many lower numbered cards around, then take it more as a number 1, meaning it is before the two of whatever suit is following it. If however, it falls around a significant number of court cards, then it can be taken as a high card – above that of the King of that suit.

There are a variety of situations the ace may be involved in. It may fall before one or some of the minor arcana and therefore it means a lesser value. It could fall after these same cards and, while still meaning a lesser value, it can also be significant enough to say THAT is what it is, rather than I think it is this…

The higher the numbered cards that fall before or after the ace, the more significant it will be in the reading.

Wednesday-Overcoming Difficulties

Today’s card is: Overcoming Difficulties

Archangel Jeremiel: “The worst is behind you and you are surmounting any previous challenges”

Don’t you hate it when, with every step we take, there are challenges and obstacles preventing us from moving forward? Obstacles seem to happen adhoc, when and where, at the worst possible moments. These obstacles can range anything from a flat tyre when we need to go out in a hurry, to forgetting our wallet when we want to go shopping. And, of course, anything in between, before or after. Sometimes they come in threes, and sometimes lots of threes. I know, I have counted them.

So for this card to come up today, is a clear message telling us that our challenges are behind us and we are allowed to move on to new and exciting life events. Today, a new washing machine arrived at our house-hold. This is not exciting news, ordinarily. However, it is exciting when you consider that we paid for it, including an exorbitant amount for delivery (which was only from around 10km away) around 17th February and today is the 8th March. As Greg told them on more than one occasion – we could have walked there, dragging our flat-bed trolley along, picked it up and walked home in less than half that time. (So, we’re a bit out of condition..)

So now, I don’t have to worry and stress that I am running out of clean clothes, sheets, towels and the like. I don’t have to hand wash everything else and wait double the timing for my clothes drier to dry them all off. I can wash. This new little washing machine will be going like a workhorse yet.

Yes, Overcoming Difficulties is very appropriate for us today. What difficulties are you surmounting, I wonder? Why not comment below and share some relief along the way.

Bright Blessings

Sandy Cee
