Reincarnation is the philosophical or religious concept that an aspect of a living being starts a new life in a different physical body or form after each biological death. It is also called rebirth or transmigration and is a part of the Saṃsāra doctrine of cyclic existence. It is a central tenet of all major Indian religions, namely Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism.3. According to the Miriam Webster Online Dictionary
Definition of reincarnation1 a : the action of reincarnating: the state of being reincarnatedb : rebirth in new bodies or forms of life; especially: a rebirth of a soul in a new human body2 : a fresh embodimentSo we can safely say it is a fresh embodiment. For the terms of this post, and indeed, for this website, I believe it to be more than that. A fresh life. A new life. That is, a person in the physical form will journey through the transformation of death to a new life.In my deep consciousness, I remember being told we come into this life with a spirit and soul. We live the life according to our beliefs, as well as the beliefs of those we have learned from. When we have experienced what we had set out to, we then die or pass onto the next incarnation. At the time of death, our physical body returns to the dust that from which we came. The Spirit and soul separate into the Spirit Realm but return to our next incarnation. The Spirit is who we are in our true form. Our Soul is the entity which collects all the experiences of our live long years. So in effect, it operates a little like a database. In each life term or journey of life, we have different experiences which are kept within the confines of the soul body. Whatever we learn within a particular life-journey is the knowledge we accumulate. This, in turn, is what gives us our wisdom of the ages. What we learn, if it impresses us, and we are good at practicing, then it may stay with us for many lifetimes. For instance, if we learn geometry in this lifetime, and put it into practice in any form, such as a mathematician, or architect (for instance) we may bring it from one lifetime to the next. So it is not beyond the realms of possibility that we will have a particular curiosity or affection toward this subject. Likewise if we enjoy playing a musical instrument or even a particular sport, we may enter the next incarnation being drawn to that instrument, or music, or sport over anything else.
How many times are we incarnated?
There is, to my knowledge, no limit to our incarnations. There be no minimum, certainly there be no maximum. for myself, as an example, I have counted upward of twenty different incarnations over the ages. I have experienced both poverty and wealth. Although I have never been wealthy in my right. But more on those anecdotes in another future post.
I have met some new souls in my time, many old souls. I would go so far as to say that most of us are old souls who have experienced at least 5 lifetimes, perhaps more.
